Science & Technology Parks and assisting institutions

South Bohemian Science & Technology Park, České Budějovice (JVTP)

Providing environment suitable for the transfer of technologies, the Park relies on cooperation between research & development facilities on one side and commercial entities on the other to implement technology-oriented business projects and plans. The Park as a whole serves many purposes, but the focus is on bio-technological processes. This orientation is closely related to what is pursued at the University of South Bohemia and the Biology Centre of ASCR, v.v.i.

Třeboň Center for Innovation

The Třeboň Science & Technology Park was established in an attempt to make most of the experience and business tradition of the founder, the company of ENVI, s.r.o., and to utilize the research activities by ENKI, o.p.s. a co-operating company, while enabling the advancement of completely new activities. The Center for Innovation comprises:

  • Center for Applied Research
  • Innovative business activities (including the Business Incubator)

The Center for the Applied Research is run by ENKI, a public service company, substatnially supported by the Institute of Systems Biology and Ecology of the ASCR. A special contract to this effect was concluded between the University of South Bohemia and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University (ČVUT). The Business Incubator, emerging as an integral part of the Center's activities, aims to stimulate new activities and/or establish new companies, trades or businesses focused primarily on technological innovations or on the transfer of technologies. The founder of the Science & Technology Park will make available some selected items of its instrumentation and office equipment to be used on the Park's premises.

Centre of Biological Technologies Nové Hrady

The Institute of Physical Biology of the South-Bohemian University concentrates its scientific and research activities on applied research and support of technologies. The Institute is a successful operator of the Science & Technology Park with the Business Incubator in the Center of Biological Technologies, Nové Hrady.

Centre for Innovations & Applied Research in Economy

The Centre strives to integrate research and educational activities of the Faculty of Economics of the University of South Bohemia with those of the business community. It focuses on specific projects carried out in cooperation with different commercial entities and under their sponsorship. Participating in the projects are also talented students on practically-biased assignments in the cooperating companies. Founded in October 2007, the Centre has hitherto entered into cooperation with twenty partner companies. Twelve students have already completed their assignments and the partner companies made their presentations on the Faculty's premises.

Grant Agency of the University of South Bohemia

Since 2001 the Grant Agency of the University (GA JU) has served as a tool used to introduce quality research projects carried out by full-time students under the doctoral programs offered by the University. As decided in 2006, about 10% of the subsidy to specific research should be each year allocated to fund GA JU (approx. 3 to 3.5 million CZK).

Regional Scientific & Research networks and other research organizations

The regional research networks are best represented by the public research institutions, non-profit organizations and/or their branch offices included in the scientific & research infrastructure. Quoted as examples can be:

A relatively new activity expedited by also the emergence of the relevant national subsidy title rests in establishing what is termed the technology platforms. Apart from the Czech Biogas Association (CzBA) built as a national technology platform in the biogas sector (operating on the premises of JVTP) there is another similar association in the making - the NGV Association, i.e. the national technology platform in Natural Gas Vehicles.
